Yeti Hopper Review

*Please note this product may no longer be available to purchase on the website*

Once again, Yeti has changed the cooler game with their introduction of the Hopper, a durable, leak proof, soft sided cooler that lets you take serious ice retention further than ever before. The Hopper comes in two sizes, 20 and 30 liter capacities, so that you can choose the one that fits your needs best. It is designed to be portable and tough, so that it is your first choice for those days when your adventures take you away from the truck or boat.

Features

The Hopper is made from high tenacity, TPU coated, 840 denier nylon – the same material that many high performance whitewater rafts are constructed with, which is the key to its incredible durability. The U-Dock locking system keeps the waterproof Hydrolock zipper sealed shut so that nothing leaks when the cooler tips over or rests on its side, and when it is time to pack up and go, you can use its six D-ring attachment points to strap it to the car, boat, or ATV. The Hitchpoint grid system makes the Hopper compatible with the Yeti Sidekick, a storage add-on that is perfect for essentials like keys, game licenses, and bottle openers. Finally, both Hopper models feature three different carrying options (primary handles, end handles, and detachable shoulder strap) so that you can carry your load comfortably wherever you go.

20 L vs 30 L

Using a 2:1 ice-to-drink ratio, the 20 liter Hopper will carry a twelve pack and weigh in at around 25 pounds, and the 30 liter Hopper will carry an eighteen pack and weigh you down about 32 pounds fully loaded. This means that the 20 liter Hopper is a better choice for situations where you might be carrying it long distances, and the 30 liter size is better for groups of three or more people. Both sizes feature the same Cold cell rubber foam insulation for multi-day ice retention.

All in all, the Yeti Hopper is without a doubt, the toughest, hardest working cooler in its class. That being said, it is also the most expensive, with a $349 price tag. At that price, many outdoor enthusiasts are asking if the Hopper is really worth that much money. The answer? Of course it is. Chances are, you will use often, you will use for a long time, and you love with how well it works. It is at the intersection of versatility, durability, and performance, where you will find the new Hopper from Yeti.
